2014 Patriot Cup & Gala

A little rain certainly didn’t keep us home or dampen our spirits. Arriving with umbrellas in hand, supporters of the Folds of Honor Foundation walked through the doors of the Tulsa Hard Rock Hotel and Casino glittering, and not just from raindrops. Synchronicity: How We Met Lisa Hallett

Just over a year ago, my wife Jacqy read a riveting story in Runner’s World that hit home and touched us both deeply. It was about a young woman in Tacoma, Washington, Lisa Hallett, a runner like us.

In 2009, Lisa’s husband, Capt John Hallett, was killed serving our country in Afghanistan – leaving Lisa a widow and her three children, each younger than 10, fatherless. Each year I am hired to go to Washington, DC, with the eighth grade class from Clinton, WI where I grew up, to videotape their trip. I greatly enjoy visiting our nation's capitol, and each year I take some special memories back with me. This fall's trip was especially memorable.

Lance Corporal Christopher Ramos joined Company C, 1st Marine Battalion in May of 2003 as a combat replacement in Iraq, where he volunteered to be his company’s point man. His hard work and aggressive professional development led to his appointment to the Special Operations Training Group Raid Course and deployment to Bridgeport, CT for the Mountain Warfare Training Course.
