Families of Folds – Roman Moore

Categories: Recipient Stories

Roman is a first-time Folds scholarship awardee.  He is a freshman at Carson-Newman majoring in Biology. Roman’s father is Army Sergeant First Class Jason H. Moore, who was wounded in action and the recipient of a Purple Heart.  He served just over 20 years (7 years as a Marine and 12 years in Army Special Forces).

SFC Moore was injured in July 2010 in Afghanistan.

Roman describes what receiving a scholarship means to him:

“Receiving a Folds of Honor scholarship would allow me to achieve my goal and dream of being the second person in my family to attend college and to eventually receive a bachelor’s degree.  I will use my education to better others the way Christ called us to do. That is why I plan to help those less fortunate with the education that I will receive.  I will be majoring in Biology and study to become a dentist so I can reach out to people who cannot afford proper dental care….”
